It’s safe to say that Jesus Christ is a figure
who always causes controversy.
Some love him and some hate him. It is quite incredible that a homeless, refugee carpenter from a small insignificant town in the Middle East has become a famous historic figure. More songs have been sung to him, artwork created of him, and books written about him than anyone who’s ever lived. Even our calendar is organised around his life, dividing time before and after him. And so, most people have an opinion about him. The question is, is it the right opinion?
At ONEchurch, we’re all about Jesus—and the only way to really get to know Jesus is to understand what the Bible says about him. Jesus is central to our understanding of being a Christian, being the Church and living life in the 21st century. We want to help people see the real Jesus.
The Gospel is the GOOD NEWS about Jesus – that God himself in the form of a man [Jesus], came to rescue us from our sin and the consequences of our sin.
Understanding the Gospel
G – God created us to be with him. (Genesis 1-2)
O – Our sin separated us from God. (Genesis 3)
S – Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. (Genesis 4 – Malachi 4)
P – Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. (Matthew – Luke)
E – Everyone who trusts in him alone has eternal life. (John – Jude)
L – Life that’s eternal means we will be with Jesus forever in heaven. (Revelation 22:5)
Responding to the Gospel
If you would like to begin a relationship with Jesus and become a part of his great family, why not pray this simple prayer:
“Jesus, I believe that you are God. I believe that you came into the world to rescue me from sin and death.
I believe you died, were buried and rose again, conquering death for me.
I accept your free gift of forgiveness and eternal life.
Come and lead my life, I want to follow you. Thank you for Loving me! Amen.”
